MWC was initially created to be the most investable MimbleWimble coin, given that Grin has unlimited supply and Beam, a 263 million coin cap. And not only is MWC’s lifetime cap just 20 million, but its stock-to-flow ratio of 6.5 dwarfs Grin’s 1.0 and Beam’s 2.0…and oh yeah, MWC will pay HODL rewards for likely, the next three years. That, and the fact that 30% of the entire lifetime supply is being distributed via a BTC airdrop, that is being claimed by roughly 1% of the entire BTC community.
That said, the MWC devs are as accomplished as any in crypto – with as much Silicon Valley experience as you’ll find in the space. Which is why it’s no surprise that in just a year’s time, they have arguably contributed as much to MimbleWimble’s technological development as those of Grin and Beam – incredibly, with not a single material delay. To that end, the project is not only ahead of the initial, unofficial roadmap a year ago…but the official one, published earlier this month!
For example, the airdrop claim period launched nine days ahead of schedule, on December 2nd. Thus far, more than 5.2 million of the 6.0 million MWC airdrop have been claimed, without a single operational issue. With just 13 days until the January 2nd deadline, it is likely a material amount will be left unclaimed – with all options on the table for the unclaimed portion, as discussed below.
That said, today’s news represents one of the MWC team’s most impressive yet – as 1-3 months ahead of the roadmap estimate published just 17 days ago, MWC’s cold storage enabled wallet has already been launched!
Not only is this a MAJOR milestone for MWC, but for the entire MimbleWimble space – as to date, a comprehensive cold storage solution has not been implemented in the other MW coins (we believe Grin has none, and Beam a very basic solution). Consequently, not only can cold storage now be implemented in your personal wallet, but by all crypto exchanges listing MimbleWimble coins like MWC.
Congrats to the MWC engineers, and to all those who received free MWC, or are/have been buying it at today’s incredibly low prices. As not only will the crypto bull market inevitably return, but MimbleWimble may well be THE crypto story of 2020, on a par with the BTC halving itself!
The MWC airdrop registration ended July 19th; MainNet launched November 11th; and airdrop claims commenced December 2nd (5.2 of 6.0 million claimed already) ending January 2nd…at which point, details of the “MWC HODL” rewards program will be announced. A total of 148,474 Bitcoin registered – roughly 1% of the entire BTC float - yielding an MWC/BTC ratio of roughly 40.41…and currently, it trades at HotBit.io.
