Offline Storage Capability Added to MWC
Earlier today, we checked in code that will make secure offline storage of MWC possible. Previously, in Grin (from which MWC forked a few months back), there was no way to submit a transaction from an offline wallet. Transactions had to be finalized while online. Recognizing the importance of offline transactions for security, especially for storing significant amounts of funds, we have now implemented a solution.
Secure Offline Transactions
The solution, detailed in this commit, introduces a wallet function called "submit." This function allows a transaction that was finalized on an offline node to be submitted from any online node. Transactions can now be sent over an air-gap and submitted via an online node, enabling fully offline nodes to send and receive funds securely.
Unique to MWC
This functionality is not available in Grin or Beam, marking MWC as a leader in implementing secure offline transactions. We believe this enhancement is crucial for the usability of the Mimblewimble protocol and reinforces MWC as a superior store of value.
How to Use
We have documented the details on how to use this new feature in our repository. This guide will help users understand the steps required to utilize offline transactions securely.
